The goal is only to ensure that the taste of the food is appropriate without entering the stomach. Therefore, scholars are of the opinion that this does not invalidate the fast and is permissible if it is necessary.
According to Sheikh Sulaiman As-Syafi’i Al-Makki, tasting food while fasting is basically disliked if there is no need to taste it. This is because there is a risk of invalidating the fast. However, if there is a certain need, such as for a cook, then it is permissible and not disliked.
